Passenger Lift Safety

Colchester Borough Homes is committed to ensuring all lifts are in safe, working order.

Passenger lifts are required to be thoroughly examined every six months under Regulation 9 of the Lifting Operation and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).

A thorough examination demonstrates that lifting equipment is in safe working order by examining safety critical parts and documenting findings in a written report.

All passenger lifts have a thorough examination completed twice a year by Zurich Engineering Services and are serviced by Direct Lifts bi-monthly. A load test is undertaken annually.

Domestic Stairlifts

All domestic stairlifts are serviced and thoroughly examined, each year this will include:

• Two visits from a Stannah engineer to complete a service
• Two visits from Zurich Engineering Services to complete a thorough examination

When a service or thorough examination is due for your stairlift, you will be contacted for an appointment to be booked for a lift engineer to attend.
