Team GB boxer supports Colchester Borough Homes Box Smart initiative
Local boxer Lewis Richardson, who is a member of the Team GB Olympic Boxing Programme, has shown his support for Colchester Borough Homes’ boxing initiative, Box Smart.
Box Smart encourages young people to be more confident by being active and having qualified coaches as positive, local role models. It also aims to provide a positive environment for people who could be vulnerable to the dangers of County Lines and knife crime.
Lewis demonstrated his skills with some pad work and spoke about how he got into boxing, what the Olympic programme involves and how important family and community is to him.
Colchester Borough Homes Chief Executive, Gareth Mitchell, said: “It’s fantastic to see the Box Smart participants getting stuck into this fantastic project, and it’s a privilege to have Lewis join us and offer his support.
“Projects such as this make a real positive impact on both local communities and individuals and help make our community plan work.”
