Stay safe and keep well this winter

Open Door

With rising number of COVID-19 cases in the UK and the likelihood of households mixing for Christmas, we wanted to remind you of the steps you can take to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 over the winter months by keeping your home well ventilated.

Ways you can keep your home ventilated

If you have guests in your home during Christmas and winter, remember to keep a window or door open where possible to help remove any possible Covid-19 particles. Not everyone shows symptoms of Covid-19 which is why it’s so important to ventilate your home when mixing with another household.

We recommend that anyone in your home who is self-isolating in their room keeps a window slightly open the whole time. If you have windows that use trickle vents, it’s important that these are open in winter. They will greatly help reduce the spread of covid and the impact on heating costs will be minimal. It’s recommended that windows should only be open for 10 minutes every hour. Even on exceptionally cold days, having the windows open slightly for a brief period will create ventilation.

Extractor fans in bathrooms, toilets and kitchens are another useful way of keeping your home ventilated.
