Colchester Landlord Forum

Thursday 23 April 2020 at Jobserve Community Stadium, United Way, Colchester

Our next Landlord Forum will take place from 7-9pm on Thursday 23 April 2020 at Jobserve Community Stadium, United Way, Colchester. Registration will be open from 6:30pm. This is the latest in a series of successful Landlord Forums with more than 50 landlords attending each event.  At each event landlords are treated to presentations on a range of topics of direct relevance to them. Later in the evening, many of the landlords take advantage of the opportunity to network with council officers, other landlords and housing professionals.

We hope to build on the success of our previous events – there will be more presentations of direct relevance to landlords along with further opportunities to meet and chat to staff from Colchester Borough Homes and Colchester Borough Council.

The Landlord Forum is held in partnership with the National Landlords Association and Colchester Borough Council. Colchester Borough Homes, the Council and the NLA share the common goal of sharing knowledge with landlords to improve property rental for all. The Colchester Landlord Forum is free to attend and provides landlords with a wealth of information and advice in comfortable surroundings.

Speakers at our 23 April 2020 event will include:

  • Joanne Dron, Representative of National Landlords Association – Joanne will update attendees on recent changes to our rules and working practices. If you want to stay ahead of the competition and ensure you are aware of the many changes coming our way, then this talk is a must for you.

  • David Elliott, Private Sector Officer at Colchester Borough Homes – Are you interested in the Council’s HomeStep or Private Sector Leasing schemes (which help landlords rent out their properties)? David will provide an update on the developments we are introducing, aimed at giving landlords more confidence in working with us.
  • Michael O’Brien, Director at Home of Mortgages – The mortgage market is a temperamental one! Find out how Brexit will affect mortgage rates, lenders appetite and your ability to obtain mortgage finance. We will also take a look at the shift in Landlord investment strategies and how to obtain finance on increasingly popular property investments.
  • Colin Dobinson, Volunteer for Essex Crimestoppers (Strategic Planning Lead) – Colin will show how Crimestoppers help make a real difference to community safety by protecting the identity of thousands of people who contact them to pass on information anonymously that would otherwise not be heard. The presentation will discuss the importance of partnership working to address crime and helping to identify and disrupt the growing issue of Human Trafficking and Exploitation.

We hope to see as many landlords as possible at the next event on 23 April 2020 – the event is free of charge but advance booking is required, please follow this link (Eventbrite webpage drafted by the NLA) to reserve your place.
