Nominations open for Colchester Borough Homes’ Good Neighbour Awards 2025

Recognising everyday heroes who make Colchester a better place to live
Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) is now accepting nominations for the Good Neighbour Awards 2025, celebrating individuals and groups who go the extra mile to support their community.
From helping with shopping and walking dogs to organising local events or simply being there when it counts – these awards are all about recognising the people who make a real difference.
Winners will receive £100 in vouchers and will be honoured at a special awards ceremony during the CBH Annual General Meeting on 25 September 2025.
Philip Sullivan, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Homes, said: “We know how powerful small acts of kindness can be. The Good Neighbour Awards are one of the most uplifting things we do all year because they shine a light on the incredible generosity, compassion, and spirit that exist across our communities.
“Whether it’s a young person lifting others up or a long-time resident who’s always there to help, these awards give us the chance to publicly thank the people who are quietly improving lives across Colchester, one good deed at a time. These are the people who truly make Colchester feel like home.”
Award categories include:
- Community Champion – For those leading local change and inspiring others.
- Older Persons Champion – Over-60s making a big impact in their community.
- Good Neighbour Award – For everyday reliability and neighbourly support.
- Younger Persons Champion – Aged 5–18, showing care and initiative.
- Home Carer Award – Recognising unpaid carers who support vulnerable residents.
- Best Garden Award – Celebrating gardens that bring joy to others, big or small.
