Colchester Borough Homes announces Round 1 Community Fund winners

Community Initiative Fund 2025 Round 1 Winners
Date issued: 28 July 2025

Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) has announced the successful applicants for the first round of its 2025 Community Initiative Fund.

Twenty-one community groups, including several charities supporting children, vulnerable individuals, and families, will benefit from CBH’s Community Fund, which totals £18,550 for this round. A five-person panel of involved customers assessed applications, focusing on projects that address the cost-of-living crisis and provide meaningful support to Colchester residents.

This year’s Community Fund recipients include Colchester Foodbank, The Underdog Crew CIC, and St Helena Hospice. Each project demonstrates a commitment to strengthening community spirit, alleviating hardship, and improving wellbeing.

The CBH Community Fund provides grants to local charities and community groups throughout the year, with awards made at regular intervals.

Philip Sullivan, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Homes, said: “Every round of funding gives us a window into the incredible work happening in our communities. These groups are tackling real issues head‑on – from food insecurity to social isolation – and their impact is immediate and personal. Supporting them isn’t just about giving funds; it’s about backing the people and ideas that make Colchester stronger and more connected.”
