Colchester Borough Homes is returning to ‘Make a Difference’ in local communities again this year, with the first of four planned events set to take place on Thursday 30 May 2019 in Tiptree.

The popular programme of Make a Difference Day (or MAD Day) community events will run under a refreshed format, to help target the issues and improvements that matter most to tenants.

The full list of 2019 MAD Day dates and locations is as follows:

  • May 30 – Tiptree
  • June 27 – Dutch Quarter

Tenants who live in these areas will be consulted by their local Community Housing Officer (CHO) ahead of the event, to find out what improvements they feel should be carried out on the day.

There will also be an additional four ‘mini’ Make a Difference events throughout the year. These will be smaller events that will focus on specific blocks of flats and will be identified followed feedback from Colchester Borough Homes Quality Assurance Advisers.

The days will be run in partnership with other local partner agencies and organisations to help maximise the benefits for local people.

The first event will take place 10am – 2pm on Thursday 30 May on the green at Cedar Avenue, Tiptree, CO5 0NR. There will be a range of free activities for all the family to enjoy, including: dog chipping and dog behaviourist, smoothie bike, gardening tips and advice, kids treasure hunt, Essex Wildlife Trust, make your own fruit kebabs, book sale, NHS heath checks, massage taster sessions, ‘give it a go’ sessions with karate professionals, raffle, exercise sessions. We are proud to be bringing them back for 2019, with a new, refreshed focus on meeting the needs of our tenants.

“These events are fantastic way to bring together local organisations and residents for the benefit of the community. I would encourage anyone living locally who has any spare time to come along and get involved.”

As part of our commitment to making a difference and community action, we are also looking to support other community events throughout the year so if our tenants have any suggestions of events or activities that we could support, we would like to hear about them.

If you would like to be involved with any of these events, or would like to let us know about your community event that we can support, please get in touch with Resident Insight and Engagement Officer Mark Healy on: or 03300 538022
