MAD Day makes a difference to Penrice Close!

CBH MAD Day Team
Colchester Borough Homes’ (CBH) latest Make a Difference Day (MAD Day) took place in Penrice Close, Greenstead, on 28 July.
The event saw 35 volunteers, including local residents and younger members of Project Morpheus, CBH staff, contractors, and local neighbourhood officers from Colchester Borough Council (CBC), work together on a variety of tasks and activities throughout the day, to help revitalize several designated areas.
Working in small groups, the volunteers set to work litter-picking, removing fly-tips and cutting back overgrown vegetation. Volunteers also spent some time meeting local residents and explaining all the services that CBH and CBC continue to provide.
Colchester Borough Homes Chief Executive, Philip Sullivan, said: “Building on the achievements of previous MAD Days, the Penrice Close event was a great success and really helped make a difference to the neighbourhood. It was especially encouraging to see some of the younger volunteers taking the lead!
“These events are a fantastic way to bring together local organisations and residents for the benefit of the wider community. I would like to thank everyone who took part in yesterday’s event and encourage anyone who has the time to spare to come along and get involved in any future events. You, too, can play a part in making a change and help develop a real sense of pride in your community.”
