Manage your tenancy or lease online, anytime anywhere!

We’re excited to introduce Housing Online – your new 24/7 digital home for all things tenancy and lease!

No more waiting on the phone or visiting in person – now you can manage your tenancy your way, whenever it suits you!

With your Housing Online Account you can: make a payment; set up a Direct Debit; report and track repairs and so much more – all from your phone, tablet, or computer.

It is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. 

How to register 

You can register for Housing online if you are: 

  • A current Tenant or Leaseholder (the tenancy/lease is in your name or 
  • A former tenant or Leaseholder (the former tenancy/lease is in your name).

It’s simple to use – just register via the login page to have access to all these services.

  • You’ll need: 
    An email address
  • Your eight-digit rent payment reference (starting with 800) you can find this on your rent notice letters/service charge invoices. 

Step 1

Scan the QR code or go to https://housingonline.colchester.gov.uk

Step 2

Click on Register for an Account

Step 3

Enter your email address and create a password

Step 4

You’ll receive a verification email. Click on the link in the email to continue your registration.

Step 5

You will then need to enter some personal details and your eight-digit rent payment reference, which starts with 800.

Step 6

Set a memorable question/answer and a memorable date. This will help you reset your password if you forget it.

Step 7

Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.

Complete

Registration is complete.

Logging In

You can now log into your account using the email and password you set up in Step 3.

What you can do online… 

View your tenancy/lease details 

You can view your current and former tenancy/lease details. You can also request to end your tenancy. 

View your accounts details including charges and transactions 

You can check your balance, payments and charges. Please note that payments can take a few days to show in your account so please give time for the payment to be processed.  

Sign up for Direct Debit or view your existing Direct Debit 

Direct Debit is the quickest and easiest way to pay your rent or other charges. Setting up your Direct Debit is simple online. You can choose from a range of dates (1st, 8th, 15th, 25th or 29th). Already pay by Direct Debit? You can view the payments you have made and future payments and the date they will be paid. 

Making payments using our secure site 

You can make payments by credit or debit card through our online payments system. It normally takes a few days for payments to show on your account. 

Report repairs and view updates 

You can repairs logged in the last 12 months for all areas related to your tenancy or lease.  These include repairs we have identified need to be completed, repairs you have reported to us, and repairs that another resident may have reported for communal areas. 

You can report non emergency repairs online.  For your property (tenants only) or block (if you live in a flat) you can log the repair by using our online reporting tool that asks you to select pictures of the fault. You will also be asked to select an appointment time if you need to be available for us to carry out the work.  The repair will show in Housing Online as requested and if you have been asked to select an appointment, you will receive a text message confirming this. 

For repairs to communal stairwells and communal areas you will be asked to complete an online form.  These will be processed by our teams and may take a few days to show in Housing Online 

You can check the status of repairs.  You will be able to see when repairs have been logged, their target date for completion and when they have been completed.   

Emergency repairs 

We carry out emergency repairs when there could be a risk to someone’s life or serious damage to your home. If your repair is an emergency contact the Customer Services Centre on 01206 282514, option 1 or for Gas Emergency – 01206 282514, option 2.

Update your Personal and Contact Details 

You can view and update personal information that we hold for you and ensure we have the correct contact information.

We may ask you some questions to verify your identity when you call.  We will never ask for your password, memorable answer or memorable date for Housing Online, please do not share these with anyone.
