Grymes Dyke Court celebrates 30th Anniversary
Colchester Borough Homes’ sheltered housing scheme Grymes Dyke Court celebrated its 30th Anniversary in style this week, with a party thrown for all the tenants to enjoy.
The party, held on Monday 20 May 2019, marked 30 years to the day that Grymes Dyke Court was officially opened by the Mayor, Councillor Dr John Sanderson on Saturday 20 May 1989.
Tenants joined together with staff and local Councillors to commemorate the day, which included Elvis tribute act Peter Webb, who entertained the crowd with a repertoire of ‘the King’s’ hits.
Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Homes, Gareth Mitchell said: “We are pleased to commemorate 30 years since the opening of our Grymes Dyke Court sheltered housing scheme. As with our other schemes, it really allows people the opportunity to retain their independence, whilst giving them security and peace of mind at the same time.
“Our Older Persons Team regularly put on fun events and activities like this party for tenants to enjoy. It’s great to see people having a wonderful time celebrating in their own home.”
Grymes Dyke Court is located in Rogation Close, Stanway. Set in attractive gardens with a courtyard patio and seating area, there are 20 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom self-contained modern apartments. All properties have access to a range of communal facilities including two guest rooms for friends or family who may wish to stay nearby when visiting.
