Colchester Borough Homes Shortlisted in National Awards
Colchester Borough Homes have been announced as finalists in the Resolve ASB awards. Box Smart, the boxing programme for local young people, is nominated for the ‘Project of the Year’ award.
The awards, taking place on 2 April, recognise the important work that has been contributed to make communities safer for everyone.
Box Smart aims to provide a positive outlook for young residents aged 12-16 years old by being active and training with qualified, local coaches. The programme was launched as part of a wider plan to help tackle County Lines and drug related ASB.
Once participants completed the nine-week programme, they were offered vouchers for further free training at the Arlesford Boxing Club so they could continue engaging with the sport.
Colchester Borough Homes Chief Executive Gareth Mitchell said: “It’s fantastic to be shortlisted for the Resolve ASB Awards. Since it launched, Box Smart has received positive feedback from participants and their parents, and it’s all because of the dedication from officers, partners and the participants.
Receiving national recognition for our work to help prevent ASB and help local communities feel safe is a huge honour”
Judging is carried out by an awards panel. The panel will make the awards based on the information provided in each of the nominations received.
The ASB Awards Ceremony takes place during the RESOLVE25 ASB Annual Conference to an audience of over 300 practitioners across government, housing, and community safety national bodies.
