Colchester Borough Homes celebrates successful year at AGM

Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) celebrated a successful year at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Innovation Centre, University of Essex, last night. Attendees included tenants and leaseholders, alongside CBH Board Members, Executive team, and Colchester City Council cabinet member for Housing Cllr Paul Smith. Attendees received a presentation on what CBH had achieved in 2022/23, as well as a forward look to 2023/24 in which CBH celebrates its 20th Birthday.
Despite challenges including rising costs and resource shortages, CBH recorded a 76% customer satisfaction score, 71% of repairs completed at first visit, and 99% satisfaction with the letting service. CBH also invested in its homes by installing 133 new kitchens, 274 replacement boilers, and 53 new bathrooms.
The annual resident engagement report was also received, demonstrating how CBH ensures the customer voice is involved and considered in its decision making. As part of the AGM, the winners of CBH’s Good Neighbour Awards, which celebrate those who go the extra mile for their community, were announced.
CBH Board Chair, Esme Cole, said: “Our AGM attests to the important work that our staff have done to ensure that we continue to prioritise our tenants and our communities. This year has had its challenges, but as an organisation our focus remains on customer satisfaction, providing value for money services and creating positive outcomes in the community.”
CBH Chief Executive, Philip Sullivan, said: “I’m delighted to report that CBH has had another successful year, despite the challenges we have faced. Our staff have worked incredibly hard to deliver high quality services to our customers, and I’m proud of what we have achieved together. I’m also grateful to all of our involved tenants and leaseholders for their continued work and commitment to CBH.”
Colchester City Council cabinet member for Housing, Cllr Paul Smith, added: “CBH is a vital asset to our city, and I’m delighted to see that they have had another successful year. I’m particularly impressed with their commitment to customer service and their investment in the homes they manage. I’m confident that CBH will continue to play a key role in providing high quality housing for the people of Colchester in the years to come.”
