Colchester Borough Homes announces Round 2 Community Fund winners
Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) has announced the successful applicants for the second round of its Community Initiative Fund.
Nineteen community groups, including four local children’s charities, are set to benefit from the latest round of CBH’s £40,000 Community Fund.
Judges, made up of a five-person panel of involved customers, assessed how the services and projects of each group would benefit not only tenants but all residents in Colchester, with a particular focus on support with the cost-of-living crisis.
Among the latest Community Fund recipients are St Helena Hospice, Colchester Credit Union, and Tiptree Community Fridge.
The CBH Community Fund supports the local community by making small grants and awards to local charities and community groups in Colchester. The total awarded to the latest Round 2 winners was £23,357
Groups can apply for funding throughout the year and the awards take place at regular intervals.
Colchester Borough Homes’ Chief Executive, Philip Sullivan, said: “I am delighted to announce the worthy recipients of Colchester Borough Homes’ Community Fund once again. These organisations, each dedicated to serving the diverse needs of our community, embody the spirit of Colchester – a place where we come together to support one another, especially during challenging times.
“As we face the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, it is more important than ever that we extend a helping hand to those in need. The projects funded by this round of grants will directly address these concerns, providing essential resources, fostering connections, and promoting well-being across our neighbourhoods.
“The Community Fund is a testament to our commitment to bringing our community closer. Through these grants, we empower local organisations to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Together, we can ensure that Colchester remains a place where everyone feels supported and valued.”
