Mobility scooter storage

If you are thinking of getting a mobility scooter, you will first need to get our permission to store it in the grounds of your home. You are not allowed to store mobility scooters either inside your home or in communal areas. Please see the Council's pdf icon Mobility Scooter Storage Policy [182kb] for details. Scooter storage in sheltered housing

Scooter storage in sheltered accommodation is allocated on a first come, first served basis. If no spaces are available you can join a waiting list. To apply fill in the form on this page.

Scooter stores for general needs homes

It is your responsibility to buy, install and maintain a store and ensure you have any planning permission you may need to have a store placed in the grounds of your home. In some circumstances we may provide you with a hard standing with a ground anchor, an electric charging point and access to the store under the Council's pdf icon Housing Adaptations Policy [88kb]. To apply please visit the adaptations page. For this you would normally need to be in receipt of one of the following:

  • Blue Badge 
  • Disabled Person's Bus Pass
  • High Rate Mobility Disability Living Allowance/Enhanced rate Mobility 
  • Personal Independence Payments
  • A letter from a medical professional
