Colchester Borough Homes considers annual performance

Annual Report 2017-2018

Colchester Borough Homes' Board considered the organisation's achievements over the previous year, despite a number of significant challenges, at its Annual General Meeting last night.

The Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on Thursday 1 November 2018 at the Mercury Theatre.

The Borough Council's representative, Dan Gascoyne thanked the board for the excellent contribution CBH makes towards delivering the Council's vision for Colchester to be a "better place"

Chief Executive, Gareth Mitchell gave a presentation on the year's achievements. He said: "Our annual performance has been extremely encouraging. I am grateful to all our staff for the hard work and dedication they have shown over the last year, making a real difference to local communities."

Anne Grahamslaw, Chair of the Board, explained that the Board are focussing on strong governance and have established a 'Residents Panel' to give residents a better opportunity to influence decisions.

She said: "I'm really proud of the work we do to help improve the lives of local people. This AGM was an opportunity to go through the successes we've experienced and the challenges ahead."

Residents and partners were all invited to the event to hear about the organisation's progress and ask questions to the Board and CBH staff.

Guest speaker, Dr Mary Kennedy took those attending on a journey through dementia, reflecting on experiences and how we can recognise and support those who are affected by dementia.
