Making a Difference in Berechurch

Colchester Borough Homes' successful community 'Make a Difference Day' (MAD Day) event is set to arrive at Windsor Close in Berechurch on Thursday 31 May 2018.

The Make a Difference Day team is comprised of Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) staff, volunteers, residents, local organisations and community groups. They all join together to help bolster local communities by completing a programme of events to reinvigorate areas across Colchester.

In Berechurch this will include litter-picking, sweeping, rubbish clearing, garden clearance, unblocking drains, cutting back trees, weeding and other works to the gardens.

Following a consultation with local residents ahead of the event, Colchester Borough Homes has already installed fencing to help address the parking situation in the Close. As part of the legacy of the event, there will also be a programme of planting works in the garden areas which will be undertaken in the autumn.

Gareth Mitchell, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Homes, said: "I am pleased that the MAD Days continue to gain momentum and are set to make a difference to more local communities across Colchester."

"I would really encourage anyone local to Berechurch to come along and help out. Getting involved in these events makes a real, tangible difference and boosts people's sense of local pride and enjoyment of where they live."

The team will be on site between 10am and 3pm in Windsor Close, Berechurch, CO2 8Qt. Anyone passing by, living or working in the area is welcome to come and speak to the team. If you are able to give some time to volunteer, please get in touch via
