Tenants to be helped to Make A Difference again in 2018

19 April 2018

Six neighbourhoods across Colchester are set to see dramatic improvements this year as part of Colchester Borough Homes' (CBH) annual 'Make A Difference Days' programme, beginning this month with Hazelton Road, Greenstead.

The events, also known as MAD Days, bring together CBH staff, volunteers, residents, local councillors and other organisations to concentrate all their efforts on a particular area for one day. By the time they leave, a visible difference has been made, encouraging people to be proud of their communities.

The 2018 MAD Days programme will visit the following areas:

· Thursday 26 April - Hazelton Road, Parson's Heath

· Thursday 31 May - Windsor Close, Berechurch

· Thursday 28 June - Coates Hutton Road, Shrub End

· Thursday 26 July - Barn Hall Avenue, Old Heath

· Thursday 30 August - Magnolia Fields, Greenstead

· Thursday 27 September - Fiddler's Folly, Fordham Heath

Works to be carried out include general clean-ups alongside specific repairs like washing line replacement, painting and planting.

During each event, CBH staff will be stationed at a central hub where members of the local community can stop by for a cup of tea and a chat about issues affecting their area. Staff will be able to give advice, support and information in an informal setting.

If you live in one of the chosen areas, you'll be contacted a month or two before the MAD Day to request your views and suggestions for improvements.

Gareth Mitchell, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Homes, said, "I'm pleased that our MAD Days are returning for the seventh year to improve the surroundings of communities all over Colchester.

"Our teams are always out working with residents across the borough and these days further build on this as well as helping our tenants to be proud of their local area.

"The days have proved highly successful over the years and have gone from strength to strength. They highlight the huge positive impact that public services, volunteers and organisations can have on communities, boosting people's local pride and enjoyment of their homes."

The team will be on site at Hazelton Road, Greenstead, from 10am - 3pm on Thursday 26 April. Anyone passing by, living or working in the area is welcome to come and speak to the team. If you are able to give some time to volunteer, please get in touch via info@cbhomes.org.uk.
