Date Published: 5 April 2018

Press Release

Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) is pleased to invite its tenants and leaseholders to make their nominations for the 2018 Good Neighbour and Your Garden Awards, returning once more for 2018.

Nominees have the chance to win up to £100 worth of vouchers through the two competitions, which reward people all over the borough who go the extra mile to make their local areas better. Whether it's through helping others, encouraging wildlife or creating a beautiful display in their own garden, CBH seeks to recognise and celebrate their hard work.

The Good Neighbour Awardscelebrate tenants and leaseholders who look after others in their community. There are three categories:

  • Community Champion - for people who support local community projects

  • Friend In Need - for those who go that extra mile to help and support their neighbours

  • Home Care Hero - for carers who are committed to helping others

The Your Garden Awardsare for residents who take pride in their property and garden, putting in extra effort to make their outdoor space attractive and welcoming. Keen gardeners can enter or be nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Small-Space Garden or Balcony

  • Best Wildlife Garden
  • Best Vegetable Garden or Plot
  • Most Improved Garden
  • Most Fun/Artistic Garden
  • Best Communal Space (tenant/leaseholder-led gardens only)

Gareth Mitchell, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Homes, said, "Every day, our teams meet tenants and leaseholders who really care about the places where they live and the people around them. These awards are a chance for CBH to recognise their hard work and thank tenants and leaseholders who take pride in their communities and properties. I look forward to seeing all the entries this summer."

Anne Grahamslaw, Chair of the Board at Colchester Borough Homes, added, "When residents go the extra mile to look after their homes and neighbours, they inspire others to do the same and create a warm, welcoming environment that everyone can enjoy. The Good Neighbour and Your Garden Awards are a wonderful opportunity for CBH to show our appreciation of those residents."

The two competitions are open to residents of all ages who live in properties managed by CBH.
