Shrub End to benefit from Make a Difference Day 2017

This month, Colchester Borough Homes' (CBH) Make a Difference (MAD) team will be visiting Tayspill Court, Gateacre Court and Kingsford Court, in Coats Hutton Road, Shrub End on 29 June.

The MAD Day team have been busily gathering steam as they work through their 2017 programme and this will be their third MAD Day this year, with the team already having visited locations in Tiptree and Greenstead in previous months.

CBH's MAD Days bring staff, volunteers, local groups and residents together in locations across the borough where collectively they carry on specific tasks to make a difference in those areas and encourage pride in community spaces.

CBH's Community Housing Officers have been in touch with residents in the area about the improvements they would like to see and their responses have informed the action plans have been set for the day.

The team will be stationed at the MAD Day Hub from 10am to 3.00pm on 29 June where they will be carrying out specific tasks such as replacing broken fencing, clearing drainage, providing a skip for residents to use as well as litter picking and tidying up the area.

On the day itself, CBH staff will be stationed at the MAD Day Hub and would welcome as many residents and volunteers as possible to come along and meet them for a coffee and chat and join in with the day's activities if possible.

Gareth Mitchell, Chief Executive of Colchester Borough Homes said, "This year's MAD Days are going extremely well and not only are they having a positive impact on local communities and spaces but the feedback we're receiving from residents and volunteers has also been very positive. MAD Day participants find these events extremely rewarding, therefore if any residents or local businesses are able to spare any time to help out on the day, I would encourage them to do so."
