Colchester Borough Homes to support #GivingTuesdayUK

24th November 2015

We will be showing our support for the global giving day #GivingTuesday on the 1 December. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fuelled by social media. Originating in the United States of America in 2012 as an antedote to the start of the festive season shopping which is traditionally started in America by Cyber Monday and Black Friday shopping events.

The UK staged its first #GivingTuesdayUK in 2014 and it is hoped many organisations across the UK will join in and give a festive gift for those less fortunate this year.

CBH have chosen three local organisations to support as part of its #GivingTuesdayUK support which are the Colchester Night Shelter, Colchester Foodbank and Beacon House. Collections of men's toiletries, warm clothing, bedding and food items will be collected by CBH staff members and tenants.

Donations are being collected at CBH offices at Rowan House and Riverside as well as Greenstead Housing Office and sheltered scheme Plum Hall.

Yvonne Day, Older Persons Service Manager for CBH says,

"We are thrilled to be supporting #GivingTuesdayUK this year. We have chosen three local organisations to work with that are dedicated, hard-working and support our local community. For many local families these organisations offer a life line and a resource that many could not survive without.

Should anyone wish to donate any items to our collection these can be delivered to the Greenstead Housing Office, sheltered scheme Plum Hall or our offices at Rowan House or Riverside. Let's join together and help make a difference this festive season and support #GivingTuesdayUK."
