Ariel Close Garage Refurbishment

£351,000 investment programme to Ariel Close garage site  complete

On behalf of Colchester Borough Council (CBC), we have completed a £351,000 investment programme to the garage site at Ariel Close, Colchester.

The works undertaken included demolishing the existing 61 garages on the site and in their place building 41 wider, and more secure garages. The garages are all fitted with 4-point locking up and over doors, now have an internal width of 9ft 4 and an external length of 16ft 11. Made of a coated steel roof and anti-condensation coating they provide a cost effective storage solution for residents whilst at the same time using sustainable materials.

In addition to the garages, 14 new mini lockable storage facilities and 10 new private parking bays complete with lockable drop bollards have also been added.

The new garages, storage units and secure parking bays are available for rent to both CBH tenants and the general public ensuring that CBC and CBH support the local community and its needs.

Mark Wright, Director of Property Services for CBH, said "We are delighted to be able to provide these new storage facilities to the local community. We are continually striving to offer the best services to the community and this programme of refurbishments works funded by CBC brings a much needed resource to the area."

Councillor Tina Bourne, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Public Protection at Colchester Borough Council said, "Ariel Close is our first garage site identified to receive significant investment, returning it to a modern day standard. I am delighted that local residents now have a number of secure storage and parking facilities available to them at an affordable rent. We are currently working on the next garage site identified for similar improvement."
