Skip Day to take place at Heathfields House

Skip

We will be holding a Skip Day at sheltered accommodation, Heathfields House on Tuesday 28 April. The Skip Day will give residents the opportunity to conduct a spring clean of their individual accommodation and dispose of any unwanted items on site, for free and with the offer of assistance.

Heathfields House is one of a number of sheltered accommodation blocks that we manage in Colchester and many of its elderly residents simply do not have access to a vehicle or the help needed in order to dispose of unwanted rubbish. The Skip Day is designed to ease this burden.

Helping residents on the day will be CBH staff, local Community Housing Officers, Community Caretakers and representatives from the Older Persons Services team. Work will also be undertaken to clear any communal areas and improve general living conditions for its residents. In order to avoid any unnecessary landfill a local children's charity will be attending in order to collect any unwanted goods that are in a good condition.

Yvonne Day, Older Persons Services Manager for CBH says,

"The Skip Day will take place between the hours of 9am - 12noon and will play a vital part in the support system we offer to our older residents in the Borough. Enabling these residents to maintain their independence is vital and we are looking forward to giving them the assistance they need."
